Job Description
Tomlinson Group of Companies is seeking a dedicated and experienced Trucking and Equipment Supervisor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our trucking and equipment fleet liaising with drivers and operators collaborating with our maintenance shops reviewing financial performance and identifying capital expenditure opportunities. This is a field-based role that requires strong leadership organizational skills and a commitment to excellence.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Oversight
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of truck drivers and equipment operators to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor performance provide guidance and address any operational issues.
Team Management
- Manage and mentor a team of truck foremen and equipment coordinators providing direction support and performance feedback.
- Ensure that the team effectively manages the scheduling tracking and allocation of trucks and equipment.
Collaboration with Maintenance Shops
- Work closely with maintenance shops to ensure timely and effective servicing of trucks and equipment.
- Coordinate with shop foremen to schedule preventive maintenance and address any urgent repairs needs.
Financial Performance Review
- Analyze financial data related to trucking and equipment operations to identify trends variances and areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management highlighting key performance indicators and recommending actions to optimize costs.
Capital Expenditure Opportunities
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for capital investments in new equipment or upgrades to existing assets.
- Prepare business cases and ROI analyses for proposed capital expenditures ensuring alignment with company goals and financial targets.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all trucking and equipment operations comply with relevant safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety among drivers and operators conducting regular safety meetings and training sessions.
Customer Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers ensuring their needs are met and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance customer satisfaction and service quality.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Field-based; 70% in field 30% in office
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 6-8 years of experience in trucking or equipment management.
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration Logistics Transportation or a related field is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in trucking and equipment supervision or a related field.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in managing and mentoring a team.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair processes for trucks and heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the transportation industry.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
