About the unit
2 West is comprised of a 23 bed Med Surg Unit and a 23 bed Post- Surgical Unit. We have a very friendly staff who are welcoming and willing to mentor new RNs. We handle medium to high acuity patients with a 5 to 6 patient ratio. Our team is passionate about patient care and shared governance.
About Taylor Hospital

It offers specialty services that include 24-hour emergency care wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy a surgical pavilion a pain management clinic orthopedic surgery an inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology including advanced CT with cardiac scoring fixed MRI including pacemaker cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography).
Scope of work
Nurses under the ANA scope of practice utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. Nurses provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Healths policies and procedures. Applies the nursing process of assessment planning implementation evaluation and discharge needs of patient/family/significant other. Partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care. Demonstrates knowledge of and competently performs technical procedures and uses equipment properly. Documents in the patient record in a timely accurate and concise manner. Develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.
Qualifications
Associates in Nursing Required
Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
External candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience. External candidate must successfully complete a competency assessment provided by nursing education required
Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer. These candidates are to remain a unit-based PRN (casual) employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience.
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire
Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
