JOB SUMMARY
The Summer Ag Van Driver utilizes a van to transport students for local Summer Agrelatedspecial excursions; ensures the vehicle of operation is in safe operating condition; and ensures the safety of students during transport loading and unloading from the van.
Work schedule will generally be 8-10 hours per week on weekdays.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Drivers License and evidence of insurability with an acceptable driving record that will be verified
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Able to roll push pull bend reach stoop and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to pass the Physical Assessment Standards for Utah School Drivers
- Speak read write analyze and follow written and verbal communication in English; listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing
- Adaptability and understanding of cultural differences while coping with stressful situations related to students and maintaining confidentiality

- Prior experience working with children
- Prior experience driving larger vehicles
- Knowledge of Salt Lake City street system
- Spanish or other language proficiency including ability to read write speak and understand
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive a van to transport passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and other special excursions in a safe and timely manner
- Assist students and other passengers (e.g. students in wheelchairs students with special needs etc.) to provide safe loading and unloading from vehicles including both emergency situations and normal transport
- Assist other personnel as may be required (e.g. emergency situations etc.) to ensure an efficient and effective work environment
- Supervise students and other passengers during transit to maintain safety and follow district policy. Report observations and incidents involving students (e.g. discipline accidents inappropriate social behavior etc.) to appropriate personnel
- Advise students and other passengers of appropriate behavior (e.g. vehicle safety rules forstudents vehicle conduct reports etc.) to reinforce regulations and maintain passenger safety
- Clean assigned vehicles (e.g. sweep and mop inside of vehicle wipe down seats cleanwindows etc.) to ensure the safety appearance and sanitation of the vehicle
- Maintain fluids in the assigned vehicle (e.g. gas oil water anti-freeze etc.) to maintainvehicles in safe operating condition
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels tire pressure exteriorcondition walk-around inspection including lights etc.) to ensure the safe operating condition of the vehicle and comply with mandated guidelines
- Assess incidents complaints accidents and potential emergency situations (e.g. monitor vehicle repair request sheets etc.) to resolve and recommend a resolution to the situation
- Prepare documents and reports (e.g. route reports employee timecards incidentreports inspection records passenger misconduct mileage logs student counts routing information federal state standards and district Policy reports etc.) to document activities providing written support and conveying information.
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills as mandated by state standards to ensure efficiency of procedures and compliance with mandated requirements
- Detail vehicle problems in a clear and concise manner (e.g. vehicle repair request etc.) to maintain safe driving and operating conditions
- Report observations and incidents involving students (e.g. discipline accidents
- inappropriate social behavior etc.) to communicate information to appropriate personnel
- Participate in meetings workshops and seminars as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functions
- Respond to inquiries (e.g. students parents other school personnel etc.) to provide and convey information
- Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
- Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectivelyperform the duties of the position
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds might need to drag up to 125 pounds some climbing and balancing some stooping kneeling crouching and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 90% sitting 5% walking and 5% standing. The job is performed in varying atmospheric conditions.
