The Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor to teach Philosophy courses within the Division of Social Sciences. The course content will be delivered face-to-face and/or online. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering critical thinking skills comprehensive pedagogy and student engagement.
Responsibilities:
Teach one or more undergraduate and/or graduate sections of Critical Thinking online using Canvas.
Develop and deliver course materials including lectures assignments and assessments that align with course objectives.
Promote student engagement and maintain a strong online presence through discussions feedback and virtual office hours.
Keep records post grades (mid-term & final) submit attendance reporting and mentor/advise students.
Incorporate teaching practices that support student population.
Adhere to institutional policies deadlines and guidelines for online teaching.
Perform other duties as assigned by the division head.
Required Education & Experience:
Masters degree or higher in Philosophy or a related field from an accredited institution.
More than one year of experience teaching Critical Thinking Logic or related courses at the college level.
Proficiency with online teaching platforms preferably Canvas.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Word processing spreadsheet and database applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to teach online courses using the various modes of delivery that the university requires.
Demonstrated commitment to all backgrounds in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Philosophy
Previous experience teaching asynchronous online courses.
Experience in developing interactive and engaging course content for virtual platforms.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for supporting online learners.
