Job Description

Alpha Media is seeking a talented motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our programming department in our Saginaw Michigan market location. This internship will provide hands-on experience in radio broadcasting news production and learning operations with the team on the 105.2 WSGW Agricultural Reporting station. This will be a paid internship and will be Monday through Friday for 4-6 hours per day.
What You Will Learn:
  • Operate the on-air console and audio controls.
  • Monitor station transmitters.
  • Run shows play music and commercials.
  • Produce and edit audio programming segments.
  • Log discrepancies.
  • Maintain studio equipment and logs.
  • Write and post information to station websites and social media platforms.
  • Understand procedures in case of a computer crash or loss of broadcast signal.
  • Communication procedures in the event of any concerns issues or problems with the broadcast.

Responsibilities of this position may include:
  • Assisting in the production of news content for on-air and online distribution.
  • Monitoring breaking news and updating coverage as needed.
  • Recording hourly newscasts.
  • Engage with listeners via social media and at events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Agricultural Manager on WSGW.
Requirements of this position include the following:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a team player and work well with management and staff at all levels.
  • Public speaking skills and the ability to interact with listeners and clients in a public setting.
  • Ability to multitask and handle pressures and deadlines.
  • Be a positive member of a tight-knit team.
  • Must be creative and innovative with a strong work ethic.
