The North Carolina Department of Revenue is currently seeking a Revenue Tax Auditor I to work out of the Asheville Service Center in the Motor Fuels Section of the Examination Division. The Motor Fuels Section administers and enforces motor fuels tax laws motor carrier laws as well as some motor vehicle laws. The Motor Fuels Tax Auditor examines motor fuels tax returns and records to ensure taxpayer compliance with the Revenue laws of North Carolina as well as conducts audits for International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and International Registration Plan (IRP) purposes. The minimum starting salary is $54137.
Basic knowledge of auditing and accounting principles and practices
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
Basic Knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Income Tax

Bachelors degree in Business Administration Economics Accounting or related field with at least twelve semester hours of accounting from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
