Data Warehouse Architect

I. Job Summary
Under limited supervision designs develops and communicates specific strategic plans and designs for information technology needs through new and existing applications systems architecture and applications infrastructure. Assumes responsibility for combining technical expertise with best practices and standard solutions in an effort to align information technology solutions with business strategy. Presents and communicates to all levels of the organization (technical and non-technical) and oversees development from a technical perspective.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively applies and designs technology solutions to solve business problems.
• Able to set a technical direction; achieving a strategic vision through tactical implementations.
• Leads technology and product assessments and proposes appropriate technologies.
• Recommends the techniques/technologies that should be applied at the application level. Performs fit analysis for matching the right tool and pattern to the purpose.
• Identifies and designs reusable approaches to apply across the enterprise and business partner relationships.
• Presents and evangelizes technical processes effectively to all levels of the organization (including technical and non-technical audiences Senior Leadership VPs and C-level executives).
• Coordinates with users and/or business analysts to determine requirements.
• Participates in application/project design and review sessions.
• Ensures that the application design complies with the enterprise standards for technical information and application architecture.
• Resolves implications and conflicts between the ideal application architecture and constraints imposed by other forces (e.g. availability security financial accessibility etc.).
• Leads capacity planning and capacity management activities.
• Provides recommendations on architectural approach and high-level design for projects.
• Researches emerging trends and technologies to stay current within the field.
• Work together with various business units (BI Product Reporting) to evolve and enhance data warehouse platform
• Work with senior architecture team to follow vision strategy and roadmap.
• Follow various ETL processes to prepare designs for all metadata.
• Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
• Evaluate design and implement data warehousing initiatives.
• Create or modify existing databases to support new data initiatives and workload.
• Maintain systems for storing raw data metadata and other data assets secure and accessible within a larger IT infrastructure.
• Play a major role in building analytics solutions to extract insights from data and translate data to the development of dashboards and other data visualization projects for use by higher-ranking administrators

III. Supervisory Responsibilities
May coach and mentor less-experienced analysts and act as team leader on systems projects.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job

A. Education and Experience

• Education: Bachelors degree (accredited) in Computer Science MIS or similar area of study or in lieu of degree High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience: Eight years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement) two or more years experience working as a Software Architect.

B. Certificates Licenses Registrations or Other Requirements

• None required.

C. Other Knowledge Skills or Abilities Required
Intermediate knowledge or skills in one or more of the following required:

• Present communicate and articulate effectively to all levels of the organization (including technical and non-technical audiences Senior Leadership VPs and C-level executives.
• Architecting and designing frameworks.
• Development methodology.
• Completing design artifacts using UML.
• Project management and organizational skills.
• Vendor interactions skills; provide input to contract negotiations.
• Ability to resolve interpersonal and technical conflicts.
• Knowledge and understanding of prototyping and methods of implementation.
• Ability to provide input to business processes and translate them into technical requirements.

D. Other Knowledge Skills or Abilities Required

• Expertise in data analysis dimensional data modeling data warehousing and database design.
• Strong understanding of data integration and migration ETL/ELT processes and tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Matillion DBT and AWS Glue. Ability to work with large-scale and varied datasets.
• Experience with various database systems including SQL Server Azure SQL and Snowflake
• Experience with BI tools like Power BI SSRS and SSAS for data visualization and reporting
• Proficiency in implementing secure frameworks for databases
