Job Description

The English and Theology teacher prepares their students for collegiate-level studies both in their content and in their overall approach to learning. The Teachers responsibilities include developing and executing lesson plans administering assessments and providing feedback to students and parents. They must balance classroom management and teaching to ensure their students needs are met. They foster the educational supportive and inclusive culture of the high essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Create engaging lesson plans lessons and presentations to pique student interest and involvement in learning
  • Practice SEL techniques in the classroom to foster student growth and connection
  • Administer and provide constructive feedback on student work in a timely manner
  • Evaluate students skills and knowledge and grade their work
  • Manage the classroom to ensure a supportive learning environment; enforce rules and supervise students behavior
  • Help students who are struggling and prepare them for life after graduation
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss students progress and encourage parent and community involvement
  • Work with other teachers and staff to develop programs and initiatives and collaborate with guidance counselors
  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities
  • Work with Department Head and Dean of Faculty to craft curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities for students
  • Foster and maintain a healthy disciplined classroom setting
  • Contribute positively to the inclusive and collaborative culture of St. Bernards High School
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and community activities
  • Add attend fall and spring Open House events
  • Work closely with the Director of External Relations and Media Specialist to promote their innovative lessons on STB social media and website channels.
