PURPOSE: To provide support and technical assistance to educators within the district and to provide leadership in developing best practices when providing services to students with complex needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in special education or a comparable field
- Required Kentucky Department of Education certification for assigned position
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in working with students who have complex needs
- Demonstrated knowledge of varied instructional and behavior management strategies
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with students parents and faculty
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to teachers of students with complex needs
- Develop coordinate and provide on-going job-embedded professional development activities for teachers instructional assistants and other staff members to build capacity for addressing issues that arise with students
- Identify and help implement research-based strategies in improving student achievement
- Model and demonstrate skills for appropriate instructional strategies
- Work with special and general education teachers to develop appropriate instructional strategies and techniques
- Identify access and use existing resources to support the efforts of staff in providing services to students
- Collaborate with families outside agency personnel and other Admission and Release Committee members
- Perform related duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Special Programs
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
200-day employee with salary determined by the adopted teachers salary schedule of the Paducah Public School Board of Education
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
