Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to plan and coordinate with the Department of Teaching and Proficiency Learning to directly implement supervise and evaluate the integration of instructional technology as tools to support the District curriculum instruction and assessment. A primary focus will be on the Districts technology local area network internet and intranet communication systems applications programming hardware and software purchase database administration maintenance and to provide user professional development and support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors Degree in related field.
  2. Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  3. Five years of experience in technology field.
  4. Have significant experience in the instructional use of educational technology as demonstrated by any of the following:
  • Completion of technology training/in-service or college courses;
  • Demonstrated achievement in using advanced technology applications; or
  • Previous training and/or demonstrated experience with technology.
  1. Demonstrates high level of communication skills and meets District standards for oral and written language proficiency in English and if applicable in Spanish or Russian.
  2. Skill in leadership and facilitation of work involving colleagues and administrators including problem solving and conflict resolution.
  3. Excellent organizational skills for effectively managing multiple tasks.
  4. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing data management information retrieval visual and audio presentations and telecommunications and networking.
  6. Demonstrate understanding of technology systems hardware and software as they relate to the educational setting.
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Establish and promote high standards and expectations for students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
  2. Prepare keep current submit for approval the District Technology Plan; implement the plan which includes:
  3. Coordinate implement and evaluate the use of educational technology as tools to enhance instruction to ensure that each student meets and exceeds the Core Curriculum Content Standards and demonstrates proficiency in each of the districts identified technology competencies.
  4. Serve as the Districts expert on trends and research in the use of educational technology.
  5. Implement the system for the evaluation and selection of hardware software and on-line resources that are free of prejudice and stereotyping and designed to meet the Core Curriculum Content Standards using staff identified criteria reflecting the needs of the program.
  6. Assist in the development and implementation of the District-based technology plan and technology budget in cooperation with District and building administration to include:
  • Needs assessment;
  • Vision of future education and technology trends and needs;
  • Planned expenditures including hardware/software line charges and maintenance;
  • Provisions for acquiring connecting and maintaining equipment for distance learning activities;
  • Evaluation plan; and
  • A description of how technology is to be integrated with existing curriculum and technology activities.
  1. Provide technical assistance to the building principal in preparing the annual school technology budget.
  2. Be aware of current instructional principles research and appropriate assessment practices as related to the use of computers and technology resources in the curriculum.
  3. Establish and maintain a process for building-level hardware/software inventory and facilitate hardware preventive maintenance; repair and safety procedures.
  4. Coordinate the ordering and distribution of technology equipment supplies and related materials.
  5. Assist school staff with strategies that integrate technology to meet the diverse needs of learners in a variety of administrative and educational settings.
  6. Use educational technologies for data collection information management problem solving decision making communication and presentation within the curriculum.
  7. Communicate and support the technology-based needs of the schools staff students parents and community.
  8. Update skills through reading conferences workshops and professional organizations.
  9. Maintain equipment inventories and software catalogs. Provide procedures for repair and security of equipment and manage the distribution and placement of equipment.
  1. Assists with screening interviewing and recommending hiring of department personnel.
  2. Supervise and evaluate assigned department personnel.
  3. Prepare reports and keeps supervisor informed with regard to assigned issues and programs.
  4. Assists with monitoring of the work product of all approved Independent Contractors.
  5. Follows all safety rules and takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe and secure working environment for all department employees.
  6. Demonstrates support for District Core Values District Mission District Strategic Plan and Schoolwide Improvement Plans.
  7. Establishes and maintains a positive and respectful learning environment and working relationship with students staff administration parents/guardians and community members.
  8. Assists parents and community members as needed.
  9. Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural and multilingual values and environments.
  10. Complies with professional development activities as required by the District.
  11. Actively seeks out and participates in professional development activities designed to improve professional competence.
  12. Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving information or sharing information and expertise with students colleagues and parents/guardians.
  13. Holds expectations for high performance of self and supervised staff.
  14. Assesses results of performance for improvement on a regular basis.
  15. Demonstrates computer literacy and operates software programs as related to job responsibilities.
  16. Maintains accurate complete and confidential records as required by law and District policy and regulations.
  17. Maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to a student family colleague or district patron and uses or relays academic social or personal information only in the course of performing assigned responsibilities and in the best interest of the individuals involved.
  18. Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive and confidential district information related to financial collective bargaining personnel and legal matters.
  19. Follows all laws District policies rules regulations memos announcements and reasonable requests by proper authority.
  20. Adheres to the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Standards for Competent and Ethical Educators.
  21. Maintains regular attendance at work and work activities and is punctual in meeting deadlines attending meetings and following schedules.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The employee is expected to be dressed and groomed in a neat clean and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
  2. This position is performed primarily indoors in school buildings and offices although some outdoor work or supervision may be required.
  3. In cases in which the employee is required to travel between sites the employee is responsible for his/her own travel and will be reimbursed for approved mileage.
  4. Evenings and/or extended work hours or days are often required.
  5. Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student or employee illness or injury.
  6. May be required to obtain a First Aid and/or CPR Card and serve as a Delegated Caregiver or Designated First Aid Provider.
  7. Occasionally performs other duties as required by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Current work year of approximately 260 days (12 month position) 12 holidays and vacation days as approved.

District pays employee PERS 6% contribution

Excellent insurance package

Starting salary is $107871 depending on experience.
