Pay Rate: Standard CBWS Hourly Rate ($15/hour). This position is subject to an annual wage increase.
IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE A STATE OR FEDERAL WORK AWARD TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMMUNITY BASED WORK STUDY (CBWS) POSITIONS. Student CBWS work eligibility is subject to change due to work award re-determinations over the summer. This means even students who were a chosen applicant for the position may be ineligible to work if they do not have a state/federal work award come Fall 2025. Description of the Position:
United Way funds nonprofit local partners meeting the greatest needs of Rice County residents. We focus on the areas of Health Education and Financial Stability. We also manage Books on Central a Used Book Store raising funds for our work and Dolly Partons Imagination Library mailing books home for free to area children ages birth to 5 to help them be ready for kindergarten. We are building our brand and need to reach a diverse multigenerational audience.
This position focuses on social media a monthly e-newsletter and the web to reach our audiences. Currently we use Facebook Instagram and e-newsletters on Constant Contact and Mail Chimp. You will help us reach our audiences with stories about United Way and our partner agencies work data grant opportunities program highlights and more. Our Marketing and Communications Specialist will create content for e-newsletters which can also be featured on our social media platforms and website.
The job will be performed remotely with weekly or biweekly check-ins in person either at St. Olaf or a location walkable to campus. Supervisory meetings with the executive director will be weekly or biweekly ideally in person in downtown Northfield. Assigned hours are not to exceed 10 hrs/wk.
This position is open to first years through seniors (preference given to qualified first years and sophomores). Evaluation will occur at the end of the year.
