The Emergency Department Technician II provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for patient support environmental and supply management functions as part of the patient care team. The emergency department technician reports to the Manager with daily shift supervision by the Charge Nurse.
Education
High school or equivalent (GED).
Certification Registration & Licensure
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician
Basic Life support
Experience
Previous direct patient care experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Responds to requests for patient care assistance as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN).
Maintains skill level to perform patient care tasks to include intravenous catheter insertion and medication administration as delegated by the RN.
Maintains skill level to administer medications as delegated by the RN.
Collects and processes laboratory specimens.
Maintains department supplies and equipment.
Assists with clerical duties.
Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
Serves as a preceptor for new employees.
