CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY
Under direction to plan coordinate and supervise the cleaning of district facilities; to coordinate the custodial aspects of evening use of District facilities by the community; to supervise the school recess cleaning personnel; and to do other related work as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Confer with various school and District personnel relative to the maintenance care and cleaning of school facilities.
Review and inspect school facilities to ensure against safety hazards and to ensure that a standard of cleanliness is maintained.
Arrange for train and instruct substitute personnel in the performance of cleaning and facility maintenance functions.
May test custodial supplies and equipment and make recommendations for acquisition. Assist in the planning development and implementation of orientation and training programs for custodial personnel.
Review and approve custodial supply and equipment requisitions.
Plan schedule and coordinate the long-range facility maintenance and cleaning programs. Prepare evaluative reports of custodial personnel and may provide technical input relative to the employee performance evaluation process.
Serve as a liaison to community groups using District facilities.
Drive a service vehicle to and from custodial operation work sites.
Comply with applicable state and federal law as well as local policies and procedures. Others duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Methods materials and equipment utilized in a comprehensive cleaning and building maintenance operation;
Principles methods and procedures of organization supervision and employee motivation; Requirements for maintaining school facilities in a safe clean and sanitary condition; Safe working methods and procedures.
CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR
Ability to:
Estimate accurately time and materials required in the conduct of a comprehensive custodial operation;
Plan organize coordinate and supervise a comprehensive cleaning and building maintenance operation;
Maintain a variety of files and records and prepare and present clear and concise reports; Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 50 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
Must have an adequate range of motion in the upper extremities
This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders stairs scaffolding and ramps and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.
Perceiving the nature of sound near and far vision depth perception providing oral information the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. Exposure to hot cold wet humid or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:
Experience:
Four years of experience in school custodial work including one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by coursework or training in organization and supervision custodial operational methods and procedures or other related areas.
License Requirement
Possession of a valid Kentucky Motor Vehicle Operators License.
Condition of Employment:
Insurability by the Districts liability insurance carrier.
