Scope of Work
Under the general direction of the supervising physician the athletic trainer delivers athletic training services to encompass the prevention examination diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation of emergent acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers (AT) are highly qualified multi-skilled health care professionals who develop implement and maintain comprehensive health care programs for athletes and other patients. Under the direction of on the prescription of or in collaboration with a physician the practice of athletic training includes the treatment of an individual for risk management injury prevention clinical evaluation and assessment immediate care and treatment and rehabilitation and reconditioning of injury or illness or both. Injury and Illness Prevention and Wellness Promotion.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent required.
Post-certification Masters degree in athletic training preferred.
At least one year of related and expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or a combination of education and experience preferred.
Board of Certification Inc. certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) required.
Licensed as an Athletic Trainer (AT) through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs required.
BLS required.
