Job Description
Civil Service Title- Associate Project Manager I

The selected candidates will serve as Associate Project Manager and is responsible for managing planning coordinating and directing the implementation the design and/or construction of bridge large capital complex engineering projects. The job includes the following major tasks: coordinate project development with multiple stakeholders including other DOT units other City agencies New York State FHWA and other external government agencies and Community Boards plan manage administer coordinate and supervise engineering design carried out by consultant engineering services perform technical reviews of drawings specifications schedules estimates and reports produced by consultants and contractors supervise administers and manage the daily construction work of contractors oversee coordinate and monitor the work of consultant Resident Engineering and Inspection services supervise and manage in house project engineers manage and resolve project issues take a proactive approach to project risk management manage project budgets within the constraints of the City budget process manage project schedule prepare reports on projects status and manage consultant and contractor contracts including procurement contract changes and performance evaluations.
Preferred Skills
Civil Engineering Degree.
Experience of bridge design and construction.
Understanding of heavy civil infrastructure design practices and standards.
Understanding of project management principals.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT).
Experience with design and or construction of long span suspension bridges.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products (Word Excel etc.).

ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER - 22427
Qualifications :
One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work such as planning administering managing coordinating or expediting on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects or supervising a construction project with a value of $or more and either:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering engineering technology architecture landscape architecture architectural technology construction construction management construction technology sustainable design urban planning urban studies city planning transportation planning business administration or public administration and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work such as planning administering managing coordinating or expediting for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in 1 above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of college or university education and/or experience described in 1 above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of experience credit will be given for: (a) each 30 semester credits of college or university education leading to a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering engineering technology architecture landscape architecture architectural technology construction construction management construction technology sustainable design urban planning urban studies city planning transportation planning business administration or public administration; (b) a Masters degree from an accredited college or university in one of the disciplines described in 1 above; (c) a Juris Doctor degree or (d) a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer Registered Architect or Registered Landscape Architect. Where experience which is primarily of a design nature is not acceptable towards meeting the qualification requirements.
In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I candidates must have at least one additional year of experience as described in 1 above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
