  • Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance - Facilities & Property this position performs all aspects of work related to the servicing and maintenance of Town-owned buildings equipment and such other systems owned by the Municipality with an emphasis towards HVAC functions.

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance work as assigned by the supervisor including monitoring adjusting and performance of minor repairs of all mechanical electrical plumbing and building related systems for Town owned buildings including but not limited to the following:

o Heating systems and pressure vessels

o Air conditioning ventilation and humidity control systems

o Water plumbing sprinkler systems and standpipes

o Lighting emergency lighting generators and electrical systems

o Security systems including all access doors and windows

o Fire alarm systems

o Building automation systems

o Vertical platform lifts elevators and personnel lifts

o Building envelope

  • Use internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to efficiently perform preventative maintenance work order/requests and emergency priorities from sites and assist the Supervisor with identifying efficiencies with preventative and cyclical work order planning.
  • Respond to and follow up on tenant and staff maintenance items as per work orders or as directed by the Supervisor including but not limited to heating air conditioning ventilation lighting plumbing electrical and health and safety items etc.
  • Advise the Supervisor immediately of any major breakdown of any equipment or other problems. May be requested to acquire maintenance quotations and/or call-in contractors to address the problem.
  • Respond to and schedule maintenance or emergency repairs after regular work hours when required and as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Perform preventative maintenance building and equipment repairs as required in accordance with current Health and Safety regulations.
  • Provide input into the preparation review enhancement and performance evaluation of Preventative Maintenance programs. Organize and schedule contractors to perform preventative measures in accordance with the program. Oversees the work of contractors as assigned by the Supervisor and ensure that work is performed in accordance with OHSA and industry standards for preventative maintenance programs. Follow up to ensure that work being done by contractors is completed promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) and the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) for all tasks performed. In addition responsible for logging all work as mandated by ESA and addressing any deficiencies as required.
  • Perform building renovations and upgrades as requested by the Supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • What you bring to the team:
  • A post-secondary certificate or diploma in an HVAC field is required. This will include a college certificate from Trades School.
  • Valid Class G drivers licence and the ability to submit a clean drivers abstract upon hire
  • Requires at least 3 -5 years experience as an HVAC Technician in the building and/or building maintenance industry including experience dealing with contractors and trades people.
  • Demonstrated experience using maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC-R systems electrical plumbing fire / life safety structural roof systems and door hardware.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program for Stationary Engineer Building Maintenance Mechanic Plumber Electrician Industrial Millwright License or other related trade would be considered an asset.
  • Dual trade Certification is considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experienced in the troubleshooting of Building Automation System including PLCs and control.
  • Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Outlook Word) operate and maintain energy management and build automation systems (BAS) software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities meet deadlines and deal with conflicting priorities and work demands.


Wage: $69012.84- $86260.72plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan
Hours: 40 hours per week M-F 8:00 am 4:30 pm.
Location:Town Hall located at 24 Tupper St W Alliston ON L9R 1H2
