The Scientist II for Cytiva is responsible for the research & development efforts in characterization of membranes for Life Science Applications.

This position is part of the Hollow Fiber Filtration R&D located in Westborough Massachusetts and will be on-site. Our vision is to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

What you will do:

  • Contribute to development of application specific customer-centric tests to challenge hollow fiber membranes.
  • With minimal supervision develop test methods to characterize Cytiva membranes.
  • Perform routine characterization (water flux pore size determination etc.) of hollow fiber and flat sheet membranes.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams on new technology and product development sustainability and problem-solving efforts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and quality gaps providing solutions when possible.

Who you are:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry material science or polymer science.
  • 5 years industrial experience.
  • Understanding of polymer chemistry and material science.
  • Basic understanding of filtration applications.
  • Problem-solving attitude and basic data analysis skills.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • MS with industrial experience; recent Ph.D. graduates will be considered.
  • Experience in the science of polymeric membranes.
  • Previous exposure to characterization of membranes with respect to separation characteristics pore size both in direct and/or tangential flow applications.
  • Understanding of structure vs function in general for membrane design and application especially in biological separations.
  • Previous exposure to agile approach to research and new product development.
