Student Data Coordinator (40 hours per week/12 months)
Information Communication Technical Services Department
Overview:
The Student Data Application Manager reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and plays a critical role in managing and optimizing our K-12 public school districts student information system (SIS). This position focuses on ensuring the accuracy security and efficient utilization of student data to support classroom school and district-level needs. The Manager will provide essential user support training and strategic enhancements to meet the evolving data requirements of our educational community.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Information System (SIS) Management & Support:
- Provide day-to-day end-user support for the student information system (Aspen) and other related student data management systems.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the ICTS department and all users across classrooms schools programs offices and the district to optimize the utilization of student data applications.
- Assist users with complex operational process issues and report generation from the SIS.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of application functionality to meet user needs.
- Provide updates to SIS users regarding functionality changes and enhancements.
- Where possible provide application customization to meet district needs.
- Where needed suggest and contribute to additional application customizations and enhancements as part of the ICTS Data Team.
- Work closely with and occasionally assist the Senior DBA to ensure data management practices align with user needs.
- Assist with data exchanges between student data applications.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of student data across all student data management systems.
User Training & Data Security:
- Provide user-facing training and documentation to district personnel (both new and ongoing) on the effective use of the SIS and adherence to data security guidelines
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of student data by following best practices including annual user and permission audits for all systems holding protected data.
State & Federal Reporting:
- Lead the districts state reporting requirements including but not limited to SIMS EPIMS SCS SSDR and other federal reporting requirements.
- Support faculty clerks administrators and other members of the CPS community with updates on functionality training and any changes to State DESE reporting requirements.
- Respond to ad-hoc data inquiries including legal-related requests in a timely and efficient manner
Strategic Enhancement & Projects:
- Contribute to special projects as defined by the Senior DBA.
- Enhance existing applications and workflows to best meet the growing and evolving needs of users.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in a related field or applicable training certificate(s) from a quality training institution(s) or significant work experience (minimum 3 years) in the field of student data application management.
- Demonstrated experience with Aspen student information system MA State DESE data reporting and K-12 education business processes.
- Proven team interaction skills and dedication to quality control and timeliness.
- Ability to efficiently design and implement innovative solutions to respond to a wide variety of data-oriented requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python SQL or Java is preferred but not required
