Position Description:
The Director of School Support (EDSS) is responsible for supporting principals growth and instructional leadership with the end goal of increasing student outcomes. S/he will set ambitious student and teacher achievement targets provide analysis of data conduct principal leadership training and coordinate professional development opportunities. S/he will work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Transformation to assist principals with the districts teaching and learning goals.

Scope of Responsibility:
- Differentiates support for principals instructional leadership consistently over the entire academic year.
- Models ways of thinking and acting that exhibit the exercise of effective instructional leadership practice.
- Develops and uses tools that help principals engage in instructional leadership practices.
- Serves as a broker between principals and external resources by bridging principals to sources of assistance.
- Engages all principals as resources to their peers in support of each others instructional leadership.
- Provides direction to principals for the implementation of an instructional program consistent with the districts strategic plan.
- Provides direction to principals in establishing specific targeted student and teacher performance goals.
- Provides direction to principals in creating a culture of high expectations in the areas of instruction assessment professional development and school climate.
- Conducts regular formal and informal classroom and building visits and provides feedback to principals.
- Provides direction to principals with responses to and/or preventive measures to school issues.
- Collaborates regularly with the Executive Director of Transformation to ensure exemplary implementation of the districts instructional program and curriculum.
- Visits and monitors schools as required to make appropriate educational and operational assessments.
- Protects confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and uses discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
- Reviews recommended policies procedures plans and programs for attaining instructional objectives and improving performance of students schools and staff.
- Participates in ongoing review of proposed programs to assess their effectiveness and alignment with the content standards and current district initiatives.
- Analyzes data to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and curricular resources.
- Attends or participates in required district JPSB and committee meetings and other activities deemed necessary by the Superintendent.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Transformation.

Skills and Qualifications:
We seek detail-oriented independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate:
- Masters Degree in education from an accredited college or university required.
- 10 years of work experience with a strong emphasis on student achievement and the ability to build and lead a team of several dozen professionals preferably within a school district or related enterprise.
- Possess a Louisiana Certification in School Principalship or Educational Leader 2.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years school-level administrative experience.
- Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations to the Superintendent.
- Collaborative management style with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results.
- High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgement and disciplined thinking.
- Ability to be visionary and strategic is essential.
Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing walking reaching bending lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations including locations not on the ground floor.
