Middletown Public Schools is seeking a full time Speech and Language Pathologist for our school. Successful candidates will provide direct and/or consultative services both in small groups and/or within the general education setting according to the needs of the child.

Description:School Counselor
Location:Middletown High School
Broad Function:
School counselors design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes. They lead advocate and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their school counseling program to the schools academic mission and school improvement plan. They uphold the ethical and professional standards of the state framework and promote the development of the school counseling program.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead and oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that supports all students through a school counseling curriculum individual student planning responsive services community partnership and referrals.
- Coordinate transition goals plans and services
- Facilitate student academic social/emotional and career development through a comprehensive school counseling program that is supported by the school administration through individual counseling small group sessions crisis interventions and referrals.
- Uses current district technology and tools to drive the tracking of student success and outcomes.
- Participate as a member of the schools committees or teams as needed.
- Promote parent engagement through conferences and group presentations including academic and social-emotional engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers administration district resources parents community agencies and specialists to support the needs of students and parents.
- Case manage and facilitate the plans for students with 504 Accommodations.
- Schedule all courses using the district student information system and advocate for appropriate student placement.
- Follow district protocol for maintaining accurate student records and communication with parents.
- Participate in the development of students behavior intervention plans and functional behavior assessments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Connecticut School Counselor Certification (068) or Guidance Counselor (066) or (067)
- Must hold at least a Masters degree in School Counseling
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the components of a comprehensive school counseling program
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent growth and development
- Ability to understand and interpret learning assessments and diagnosis
- Adheres to the ASCA National Model ethical standards
- Ability to relate well with students staff administration parents and the community.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
Salary & Compensation:
- Based on Collective Bargaining Agreement between Middletown Board of Education and Middletown Federation of Teachers
