Description

Do you want to be part of a surgical team that helps to give second chances to patients Kidney Pancreas and Liver Transplants do just that. On 6T you will be working with drains chest tubes surgical wounds tracheotomies hanging blood IV antibiotics Insulin Heparin

etc.

  • Number of beds: 48
  • Patient Population/Typical Diagnosis: Pre/post-transplant care for Kidney/Pancreas and Liver Transplant patients with End Stage Kidney/Pancreas and Liver Disease
  • Targeted Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3-4

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Practice & Patient Care

  1. Collaborates with management and patient/family advisory council to develop standardized teaching materials for patient and family learning needs.
  2. Models effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  3. Effectively elicits integrates cultural beliefs and values from of patients and integrates these into overall patient management and education.
  4. Utilizes patient and staff satisfaction feedback as a factor in designing refining and revising education programs.
  5. Respects and maintains confidential information.

Leadership & Team Collaboration

  1. RN Clinician Educator Regarded as clinical expert and role model in application of the nursing process and evidence-based practice to manage the complex care needs of specific patient populations.
  2. Serves as a resource person to physicians nurses patients and family members.
  3. Applies principles of adult learning to plan and conduct educational sessions to promote staff development student competence and positive patient/family outcomes.
  4. Role models expert communication skills to colleagues through example.
  5. Demonstrates foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes based on intuition and experience.
  6. Is recognized as an expert clinician and a leader within their area of specialty.

Quality Improvement & Professional Development

  1. Demonstrates proficiency in teaching and precepting skills.
  2. Facilitates development of unit preceptors including effective delegation and interpersonal skills.
  3. Assists with the development of staff portfolios.
  4. Assists the CNS and Unit Director to conduct annual educational needs assessment.
  5. Based on needs assessments assists CNS and UD to provide assurance that staff have opportunities to acquire necessary knowledge skills and attitudes to fulfill role expectations.
  6. Coordinates unit based clinical orientation program for new staff students and preceptors.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education /Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 2 years of recent nursing experience AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration.

Licensure:

  • A valid unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.

Certification:

  1. BLS certification
  2. ACLS may be required for certain departments post hire
  3. Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty
  4. Must complete UNE criteria requirements within nine (9) months of promotion or hire including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488. PLAN:
  5. Meets all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.
  6. Completion of VIP or EBP Project.
  7. Achieves points/electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position.
  8. Completion of formal preceptor training workshop.

Preferred Qualifications / Education:

  • MSN or DNP Certification: Nursing certification preferred
