Course: RUSS 369 Narrative and Memory in Russian Culture (3 credits)

Teaching Schedule: Wednesday and Friday 4:05-5:25 PM

Course start and end dates: August 27 2025 to December 3 2025

Location: 680 Sherbrooke 495

Course details: Exploration of literary and cinematic representations of the themes of memory trauma nostalgia family history and war in modern Russian culture. Exploration of narrative approaches to war and trauma their effects on cultural identity Post-Soviet nostalgia family and childhood and related subjects.

Salary (current rate for 3-credit course teaching): $11090

Salary (rate for 3-credit course teaching as of September 1st 2025): $11479

Position Summary:

A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:

a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request review of their students grades;
g) meeting with students being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;

Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.

Teaching Qualification Requirements: Ph.D. in Russian or registered in the Russian Studies graduate program at McGill at the ABD level. Native or near native fluency in English and Russian is required.

Experience: A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a Ph.D. student in Russian Studies in the Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures at McGill University (ABD level).
