Job Description

Pharmacy Technician

SITE OF SERVICE:

US Army Ft Bliss El Paso TX

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) diploma.

Possess a minimum of one years experience within the last two years working as a full-time Pharmacy technician.

Have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times while the HCP is performing services under this contract

CORE DUTIES:

Perform the following functions within the scope of accepted Pharmacy Technician shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps personnel or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments.

Receive and process orders for orders and prescriptions for accuracy appropriateness and conformity to laws and regulations.

Receive and review prescriptions for type of substance strength dosage and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standing operating procedures (SOPs).Coordinate with HCP and Pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing interactions or instructions.

Obtain the pharmaceutical prepare package labels visually inspect the medication in the bottle to be dispensed and verify the appropriate the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness.

When the prescription has been filled and labeled container is set aside for a final check by the Pharmacist.

Provide instruction to patients on proper use of medications referring questions requiring professional knowledge and experience to a registered Pharmacist.

Review stock levels to ensure appropriate amount of pharmaceuticals are on the inventorying receiving and stocking of shelves for replenishment orders receive incoming stock check for discrepancies and rotate stocks/supplies as stock level changes as determined by unusual increases or decreases in demand and seasonal attention to short expiration dates and unusual appearance of items.

Conduct medication storage areas in educating staff on the proper storage access and security of pharmaceuticals.

Maintain security and limited access of all in collection and review of quality assurance data.

HOURS:

Hours are normally 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

This position requires flexibility.

Possibility to work weekend days exist.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced dynamic be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous and able to work with various work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced demanding environment.
