In this position

We are looking for a Senior Data Product Manager Data Discovery for strategy development and execution of metadata-related products. In this role you will drive innovation and ensure seamless data discoverability governance and quality by overseeing a suite of metadata products including Data Catalog Data Lineage Data Classification and Metadata Management.

You will work across teams to integrate metadata solutions with data access data quality security governance and analytics products ensuring Fords data assets are trustworthy compliant and AI-ready. Your work will empower teams across Ford to make data-driven decisions that shape the future of mobility.



Responsibilities

What Youll Do

Metadata Product Strategy

  • Define and execute the metadata management vision and roadmap ensuring alignment with Fords broader data and analytics strategy.
  • Drive adoption and continuous improvement of metadata solutions enhancing data governance operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Define KPIs and success metrics to measure metadata adoption discoverability and quality.

Build and Scale Metadata Products

  • Lead the development of a Data Catalog that enables seamless search discovery and governance of enterprise-wide data assets.
  • Oversee Data Lineage capabilities to track data movement and transformation across Fords diverse ecosystem.
  • Implement Data Classification frameworks to categorize and tag datasets based on sensitivity usage and compliance requirements.
  • Develop metadata governance models ensuring metadata standardization data stewardship and AI-driven metadata automation.

Integrate Metadata with Key Data Functions

  • Ensure seamless integration of metadata products with Data Access Data Quality Security and Governance solutions.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to build metadata ingestion pipelines APIs and automation workflows.
  • Partner with Data Governance Risk and Compliance teams to ensure metadata policies align with industry standards (e.g. GDPR DPDPA CCPA).

Drive Operational Excellence and Innovation

  • Implement best practices for metadata lifecycle management ensuring Fords data assets are AI-ready and discoverable.
  • Optimize metadata retrieval scalability and performance to support large-scale distributed data environments.
  • Enable self-service metadata discovery for data analysts engineers and business users.


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Systems or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • 7 years of experience working in Product Management Product Owner or very similar roles
  • 4 years of experience in data product management metadata management or data governance with skills including but not limited to the following:
    • Experience managing Data Catalog Data Lineage Metadata Management or Data Classification products.
    • Strong knowledge of metadata standards (OpenMetadata Apache Atlas Collibra Alation Atlan Amundsen) and data governance frameworks.
    • Experience working with big data platforms (Snowflake Databricks Kafka Presto) and API-based integrations.

Even better you may have...

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Systems or related field
  • Data platform data center experience
  • Experience working as a Data Analyst/ Engineer prior to moving into Product Manager roles
  • Familiarity with data access controls security and privacy regulations (GDPR DPDPA CCPA HIPAA).
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to align business engineering and governance teams.
