Job Description

Convergentz a division of the Hunton Group has a new and exciting opportunity for you to join our organization as a Fire Life and Safety Inspector. In this role the selected candidate will conduct inspection services on either of or a combination of the following fire protection systems and equipment which may include Fire Alarm Systems Fire Sprinkler Systems Fire Pumps Backflows Fire Extinguishers Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression Systems Total Flood Fire Suppression Systems and more. The ideal candidate will provide mentorship and guidance to junior technicians ensuring all work is performed safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Annual Quarterly and 5-year inspections and testing of fire protection systems including but not limited to:
  • Installation and service of all fire and life safety equipment systems including new installations retrofits and tenant improvement projects.
  • Provide support guidance and expertise to other field installers and helpers.
  • Clear and concise communication with team members and customers about their systems and deficiencies
  • Thoroughly and accurately complete inspection reports ensuring attention to detail and including clear concise documentation with supporting photographs.
  • Time management
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced team members

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in inspection and installation of fire systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of wet dry and pre-action fire sprinkler systems.
  • Familiarity with Antifreeze systems backflow prevention and fire pump systems are a plus.
  • Experience with the installation of underground piping is advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of NFPA 13 and 20 code requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret fire system design drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of the fire protection industry.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety standards.
