Saratoga Medical has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Chicago IL. This is a great fulltime opportunity 40 hours work week schedule Monday to Friday excluding Federal holidays. Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs a full range of laboratory procedures across various disciplines: Chemistry Urinalysis Hematology Serology Bacteriology Immunohematology
- Evaluates specimen suitability; requests new specimens if necessary.
- Prepares specimens for analysis ensuring physiologic integrity.
- Performs evaluates and monitors test procedures (manual/instrumental).
- Identifies malfunctions and performs corrective actions.
- Conducts quality control procedures and maintains records.
- Calibrates and maintains instruments; performs basic repairs.
- Validates data with patient history and medication context.
- Performs additional tests to clarify abnormal results and immediately reports critical values.
- Inputs and verifies results in the laboratory computer system.
- Performs equipment validation studies.
- Stocks and maintains lab supplies.
- Performs phlebotomy if needed.
- Provides clerical and admin support.
- Accessions and receives samples into the VA lab information system.
- Maintains good interpersonal and customer service skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS-accredited program.
- Certification: ASCP or AMT.
- License: Current and unrestricted license in the U.S. District of Columbia or a U.S. territory.
- Experience: Minimum one year in the last three years.
- BLS Certification (AHA MTN or AHA-recognized organization).
- Proficient in English (as per 38 USC 7402).
- Computer literacy required; proficiency in VISTA/CPRS/Oracle Cerner is preferred.
