Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for one (1) opening of a Reading Specialist position at Munger Hill Elementary School.
JOB SUMMARY:The Reading Teacher will work with teachers coaches and school administrators to identify students who are in need of academic support and intervention in literacy. The teacher will provide instruction that is engaging academically rigorous culturally responsive and aligned to the curriculum standards and frameworks. The teacher will focus on the implementation of school and district instructional priorities and adopted curricula using student performance data. Using the structures of department/grade level team meetings professional learning community meetings and professional development time the teacher will work with teachers and administrators to identify support and report on progress of students in need of additional literacy support. Classroom instruction must be differentiated in order to meet the needs of the students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Demonstrates skill at interpretation of assessment data to drive instruction
- Review data to make instructional decisions to address student weakness.
- Utilize instruction management systems which increases student learning and maximizes time on task
- Plan and teach lessons to classes and small groups of at risk students using state standards district curriculum and various assessments..
- Plan and develop lessons and activities conducive to remote learning and student need.
- Collaborate with the principal classroom teachers coaches and other appropriate staff in the school by meeting regularly to provide coordinated instruction to raise student learning and achievement.
- Collaborate with teachers for instruction planning and delivery.
- Utilize MTSS model and tiered instruction
- Monitor and maintain accurate records on student achievement articulating the progress and success
- Evaluate student performance and provide parents/guardians with goals and progress reports
- Provide explicit scientifically based instruction to students
- Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
- Promote and maintain positive relationships with school community
- Participate in district professional development
- Maintain professional work habits
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by principal and/or Administrator of Student Interventions
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal and Administrator of Student Interventions
Salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract.
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Westfield School Committees policy on evaluation.
This position subject to funding.
