Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Diagnostic Imaging the Clerical Coordinator Interventional Radiology (IR) & Central Intake (CI) is responsible for the organization and direct supervision of those daily operations within Diagnostic Imaging (DI) which support the booking and coordination of special procedures interventional radiology and provincial DI Central Intake referrals to the IWK. The Clerical Coordinator promotes supports and advocates for the well-being of staff patients and families by ensuring the provision of diagnostic imaging support services that are accurate professional in keeping with the principles of family-centered care and protect patient and family confidentiality and privacy at all times.

The Clerical Coordinator IR & CI facilitates communication and collaboration between schedulers clinical staff radiologists and anaesthesia as well as internal and external partners to support decision-making and departmental efficiencies. In collaboration with the DI clinical managers and provincial Central Intake office the Clerical Coordinator IR and CI oversees the processing of incoming IWK imaging referrals supporting IWK DI Referral Officers and will identify issues that have potential or actual impact on clinical care. The Clerical Coordinator IR & CI monitors and evaluates patient care standards and workload and makes recommendations and/or takes action for change as appropriate.

The Clerical Coordinator IR & CI is the Key User for the Clinical Information and associated applications as well as all other software/equipment required for the operation of the team and acts as a resource for all staff in this regard. Participation in training new employees as well as continual monitoring identifying issues requiring staff education and collaboration with the appropriate individuals to address learning needs are requirements of this role.

The Clerical Coordinator IR & CI is responsible for staff scheduling related to IR and CI in accordance with the Collective Agreement as well as Diagnostic Imaging and Central Intake operational requirements. This role tracks employee attendances/absences and Payroll for the team. The Clerical Coordinator IR & CI orders and maintains stock of all required office supplies. The Clerical Coordinator IR & CI works collaboratively with the Diagnostic Imaging Clerical Coordinator supporting registration and scheduling and providing cross coverage relief.
