Amazon is looking for talented Postdoctoral Scientists to join the World Wide Fulfillment by Amazon team for a one-year full-time research position. This Postdoctoral Scientist will innovate in key areas of machine learning and recommender systems.
We experiment and innovate relentlessly. Science is core in our offering to shoppers advertisers and customers. Our scientists apply machine learning optimization causal modeling and game theory at scale to enhance the customer experience help advertisers reach relevant audiences and support brand building. We are seeking talented scientists to invent cutting-edge techniques in a variety of areas and innovate on behalf of shoppers advertisers and customers.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will:
* Work closely with a senior science advisor collaborate with other scientists and engineers and be part of Amazons vibrant and diverse global science community.
* Publish your innovation in top-tier academic venues and hone your presentation skills.
* Be inspired by challenges and opportunities to invent cutting-edge techniques in your area(s) of expertise.
About the team
The key role that third-party sellers play in Amazons supply chain is integral to our mission of offering the Earths largest selection and lowest prices. FBA is a service that enables third-party sellers to outsource order fulfillment to Amazon and leverage Amazons world-class facilities to provide customers Prime delivery promise. By partnering with Amazon sellers benefit from powerful cost-effective solutions that leverage our scale and technology gain access to Prime members worldwide increase their sales and have more time to continue inventing amazing products for customers.
The FBA team is the core group in charge of fulfillment inventory management and optimization pricing and a diverse range of operational recommendation services for sellers as well as building the internal resource management systems. We strive to understand seller behavior and experiences while developing automated tools recommendations policies and incentives that help them grow their businesses. Through our science-based products and services we empower sellers with the resources they need to succeed.
* PhD in a relevant field received within 2 years of starting the Amazon Postdoc program
* Proven publication record in Machine Learning Robotics Computer Vision AI Computer Science Econ Operations Research or other related technical fields
* Experience in data science and quantitative research
* Proficiency in technologies relevant to the subfield
* Ability to independently deliver results in a fast-paced environment
* Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences and/or journals
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
* Expert knowledge in modeling and performance operationalization and scalability of scientific techniques and establishing decision strategies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
