Job Description:

Columbia High School is seeking a dynamic innovative and student-centered Business Education Teacher to join our high school faculty. The successful candidate will teach a variety of business-related courses such as Accounting Personal Finance Marketing Entrepreneurship and Business Law with an emphasis on real-world applications and 21st-century skills. Course contents within the CTE frameworks are flexible based on qualifications and desires of the successful candidate.

Position will likely include advising the Future Business Leaders of America and/or advising the Columbia HS Yearbook. Each include additional criteria and expectations and include a stipend.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Career Technical Education Business endorsed teachers certificate in the state of Washington.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business concepts digital tools and financial literacy
  • Experience teaching at the high school level preferred
  • Ability to design curriculum that incorporates entrepreneurship real-world simulations and emerging business technologies
  • Strong communication organizational and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
  • Passion for mentoring students and preparing them for college careers and life

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state and national business education standards
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learners and promote critical thinking collaboration and financial literacy
  • Integrate technology and project-based learning into the curriculum
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages respect curiosity and academic growth
  • Collaborate with colleagues counselors and administrators to support student achievement
  • Participate in school-related activities professional development and department meetings
  • Prepare students for business competitions internships and future career pathways where applicable

Mobility:While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time push or pull 18-26 lbs. sit kneel and crouch twist and bend use hands to type finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arm.

Sense:The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision far vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Lifting:The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

Physical Hazards:While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F . The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
