About GiveDirectly

GiveDirectly (GD) aims to reshape international giving and millions of lives by providing cash grants directly to the worlds poorest. The Brookings Institution estimates that $70B of cash transfers would be required to eliminate the poverty gap; the aid sector currently spends $135B each year much of it on evidence-free interventions. GiveDirectly wants to change that establishing cash transfers as a benchmark for foreign aid as the index fund is a benchmark for the financial industry and in the process accelerating the end of extreme poverty.

GD has raised over $1B since launching in 2011 delivered cash to more than 1.5 million people in 15 different countries. Weve also supported large-scale experimental research that indicates strong recipient impact of our programs. As a result GD has been celebrated as one of the most innovative non-profit companies by Fast Company while the growing cash transfer movement (and GDs leading role within it) have been featured in the New York Times Magazine This American Life Foreign Affairs and The Economist.

About this role

As Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager you will help drive new and innovative funding partnerships with individual philanthropists foundations and institutions in collaboration with GiveDirectlys programs special projects and product teams. You will manage major grants & gifts and related reporting for new and recurring partners; develop and maintain a pipeline of funding opportunities; and manage the completion of concept notes and full proposals. You will also work closely with GiveDirectlys VP Partnerships & Philanthropy to track oversee and report on analytics related to organizational pipeline health and take on discrete special projects in support of GiveDirectly overarching fundraising goals.

This is the role for you if you have a strong drive to take ownership a strong verbal and written communicator solutions-oriented and if you thrive when working at the nexus of several fast-moving teams. Given GiveDirectlys tech-forward evidence driven approach a love of data analytics and an ability to present complex information clearly for a variety of audiences would be an asset.

Level: Manager

Travel Requirement: Must be able to travel 1-2 times per year to one of our countries of operation for team retreats or other team events

Responsibilities of the Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager include:

Flexible support & project management for in-country and global fundraising:

    1. Supporting country and global teams with priority in-country & global donor lead generation prioritization & engagement
    2. Developing high quality brand-accurate core content in service of generating new catalytic in-country and global donor partnerships including pitch decks etc.
    3. Providing pitch materials for management team outreach to potential funders.

Writing:

    1. Owning the end-to-end drafting of funding proposals pitches concept notes grantee reports and more for a variety of audiences.
    2. Partnering with funders as well as product programs and research teams to design core program parameters for proposals and communicate them effectively.

Reporting & analytics in support of organizational fundraising goals & strategy:

    1. Providing oversight / owning routine reporting on overall fundraising pipeline and revenue projections
    2. Working closely with GiveDirectlys VP Partnerships & Philanthropy on on rapid turn-around requests and special projects in service of GiveDirectlys Executive Team
    3. Contributing to GiveDirectlys growing fundraising pipeline and tracking performance against ambitious fundraising goals.
    4. Identifying opportunities for improved analytics (via dashboards processes trackers etc.) proactively and implementing ideas.

Relationship Management and Communications:

    1. Maintaining relationships with assigned current partners and tracking their strategic priorities including day to day informal and formal communications and presentations
    2. Building and scaling systems for gold standard relationship management and grants administration (including regular update calls customised proposals and reports).
