Job Description
Solar Technician installs maintains and repairs solar energy systems including photovoltaic (PV) panels and solar thermal systems. They work on residential commercial and industrial properties contributing to renewable energy solutions. Responsibilities include site assessments installation troubleshooting maintenance and ensuring system efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation:
Installing solar panels and associated components including mounting hardware inverters and wiring according to building codes and industry standards.
Maintenance:
Performing routine maintenance including cleaning panels testing systems and ensuring optimal performance.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and resolving issues with solar systems including electrical problems inverter malfunctions and system performance issues.
Site Assessment:
Evaluating potential installation sites considering factors like sunlight exposure roof conditions and structural integrity.
Safety:
Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines when working at heights handling electrical equipment and working with hazardous materials.
Customer Interaction:
Communicating with clients explaining system operation and addressing their questions or concerns.
Documentation:
Maintaining accurate records of installations repairs and maintenance activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical systems solar panel technology and relevant building codes.
Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with solar systems.
Physical Strength: Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment and work at heights.
Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety protocols and procedures for working with solar panels and electrical systems.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent plus specialized training in solar energy systems.
Experience: Prior experience in electrical work construction or related fields is often preferred.
