  • DIRECTOR I SPECIAL EDUCATION
    (2025-2026School Year)



    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Three years of successful certificated special education experience and at least two years administrative experience with an emphasis on working with special needs students.
    2. Experience at the leadership or management level or experience as a special education coordinator program specialist principal or director is preferred.
    3. A Masters degree from an accredited college or university.
    4. Valid California teaching or other related services credential.
    5. California Administrative Services credential
    6. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable state and federal laws regulations and compliance requirements governing special education programs in California
    7. Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficient to express ideas thoughts and instructions clearly to clients community and staff.
    8. Ability to collaborate with other agencies in planning and implementing effective special education programs including staff and parent training within established budget constraints.

    REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned

    JOB GOAL: To provide technical assistance related to assessment and evaluation; serve as liaison with district staff regarding coordination of testing activities; provide summative data for progress monitoring.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Plans organizes implements and evaluates District special education programs health services and related programs in accordance with federal and state laws regulations and District policies and procedures
    • Guide the development and implementation of long-range and short-range plans for achieving special education goals and objectives in alignment with the districts goals
    • Direct special education programmatic services for all students with disabilities and ensure that students have access to the district core curriculum
    • Consults with site administrators and District staff to provide support and technical assistance on matters related to special education programs and services including programs of instruction designed to maximize student achievement
    • Establishes procedures and guidelines to resolve conflicts in conformance to applicable laws regulations and district practices and procedures; promotes effective communication between department staff parents district employees and community
    • Plan and provide for a comprehensive program of special education staff development activities
    • Performs other related duties as assigned

    SALARY: $166728 - $201949 annually (223 days)
    (max. salary includes longevity & educational stipends)

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Districts Improvement of Professional Services handbook Board Policies and
    Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
