Plan organize develop and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal and state standards guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures of Winner Regional Health. Assure that the ongoing activities program meets in accordance with the comprehensive assessment the interests and the physical mental and psychosocial needs of each resident. Supervise other staff in the Activities Department as well as oversee volunteer activities at Winner Regional Health serving as a key contact and coordinator for utilization and recognition of volunteers. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Activities Coordinator Training Program or a degree in Recreational Therapy.
Required Credentials (Licensure Certification or Registration):
Licensure in South Dakota as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist an Activities Professional or an Occupational Therapist.
Employment Variables:
Scheduled 40 hours per week generally Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. Hours may vary evenings and weekends to be included. Subject to multiple sensory and environmental stressors. Must maintain strict resident confidentiality at all times. Initial Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening is required by Winner Regional Health. Rubella titer will also be drawn upon hire and immunization is required if no past exposure or indication of immunization.
Required to wear name tag provided by WRH and to follow the dress code of WRH.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to read write speak and understand the English language. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal with people in a professional manner. Ability to comprehend medical terminology. Experience in an activity program in a healthcare setting. Leadership and supervisory skills. Current drivers license to drive Winner Regional Health van if needed for activities. Ability to organize a volunteer base to assist with activities. Ability to utilize a computer for departmental usage and yearly required training programs.
