Reporting to the Network Director of SEL and Mental Health and the School Principal the Mental Health Provider will support the school in addressing the social emotional and developmental needs of the schools students and families and ensure students have access to appropriate resources and services.
Responsibilities
Embody DREAMs maxims and ensure that students exhibit the same values;
Ensure all weekly scheduled mental health services are in compliance with IEP and 504 mandates;
Create Counseling Reports and Quarterly IEP Progress Reports for all students with IEPs by the set deadlines and participate in IEP Meetings when appropriate;
Maintain updated progress monitoring session notes in NYC DOE SESIS documentation system;
Support teachers in understanding each students behavioral and social emotional strengths and needs and supporting appropriate differentiated instruction by participating in Grade Team Meetings completing monthly classroom observations implementing teacher consults when appropriate etc.;
Support students and groups of students through intervention programming in accordance with DREAMs Response to Intervention;
Write Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for students in need when appropriate;
Embrace and use school culture systems with all DREAM students;
Collaborate with families to ensure a positive partnership by providing consistent communication aligning to student progress;
Supervise and train paraprofessionals for students with mandated 1:1 supports in accordance with student BIPs;
Manage the day-to-day work of students paraprofessionals when reviewing the student behavior intervention plan and discussing appropriate strategies when supporting the student when appropriate;
Initiate and maintain communication with outside student support agencies (SCR/ACS systems foster care system) tied to student needs as needed;
Participate in weekly individual supervision and monthly group supervision meetings;
Additional duties related to the running of the school as assigned.
Qualifications
Masters Degree in Social Work Mental Health Counseling or a similar field required;
New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Licensed Mental Health Counselor - Limited Permit (MHC-LP) OR School Psychologist with NYSED license or NYS DOE certification required;
Limited Permit holders will be able to accrue NYSED licensure hours through maintaining a caseload of 5-8 students for mandated counseling.
For MSWs or LCSWs certified to provide Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) or experience supervising interns preferred;
Bilingual (Spanish speaker) highly preferred;
3-5 years of previous school-based counseling experience preferred;
At least 1 year of experience with IEPs Special Education or Early Intervention preferred;
Extensive experience utilizing evidence based therapeutic approaches with students and their families in diverse underserved communities;
Experience facilitating group therapy and providing crisis intervention (e.g. assessing for suicidality) with a trauma informed and restorative justice approach;
Experience working with and navigating through the SCR/ACS systems foster care system;
Have a working knowledge of state regulations related to child abuse neglect and other urgent care issues;
Skillful collaborator and case manager with the ability to bringing together all stakeholders to ensure youth is receiving all necessary supports and services;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students families and community.

Compensation
The salary range for incoming Mental Health Providers with a Masters is $79000 to $101000 per year.
Incoming salaries are determined based on their number of years of experience as a mental health provider and internal equity. Staff are eligible for annual performance-based salary increases. Because we value staff tenure in each role we do not currently cap salary ranges.
