The NA Amazon Books Supply Chain and Operations team is looking for a customer-focused driven and analytical leader to build and execute a strategic cross-functional roadmap related to Inbound Optimization. This role provides the opportunity to work with global teams and ability to influence cross-marketplace initiatives.
The Sr. Supply Chain Manager Inbound Optimization will own the definition of a roadmap that aims to drive supply chain efficiencies through the lens of delighting our customers by optimizing books availability and reduce defects to improve customer experience while reducing cost-to serve. The ideal candidate is able to lead and influence both internal and external teams in an ambiguous environment while driving high standards and earning trust.
Areas of ownership
Books Inbound SME representing the product family to partner with central teams to ensure new product launches support Books use cases.
Manage and track inbound performance metrics such as lead times (VLT TLT) trailer appointment delays and inbound costs to drive short-term and medium-term initiatives to drive improvements.
Optimize vendor to Amazon nodes connectivity to improve availability inventory placement speed and E2E costs.
Lead Books vendors transition into new process changes and product launches such as inbound regionalization.
Providing guidance and strategy to the Books supply chain and operations team to manage vendor Inbound escalations and out-of-stock recovery planning.
Develop proactive strategies to maintain high customer experience during Inbound network constraints.
Own the Break The Glass process to reduce inbound lead time for critical books demand spikes.

The NA Amazon Books Supply Chain and Operations team is part of the WW Books business organization. This team is responsible for US and Canada InStock Management and Services Bulk Books Operations and central Supply Chain and Product Management teams focus on Vendor Operational Excellence Buying Forecasting Inventory Availability Inventory Productivity Inbound Optimization Chargebacks Promise and Post Delivery Experience. - 5 years of with Excel experience
- Bachelors degree or 5 years of professional or military experience
- Experience working with complex data sets
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Bachelors degree in supply chain operations management or engineering.
- 5 years experience in supply chain management inbound inventory management or program management
- Experience problem solving independently with high attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple competing projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy end to end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience with SQL
- Masters Degree in Business Supply Chain Engineering Transportation Logistics or related field.
- 7 years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in Retail Inbound Transportation and Operations
- Supply Chain or Program Management Certifications (e.g. CPIM CSCP PMP)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
