Job Description

Overview

The Sexual Assault and Anti-Violence Information (SAAVI) Office Outreach and Education Coordinator (Victim Advocate) will organize and prepare SAAVI education and outreach programming in order to raise awareness and increase accessibility of SAAVIs confidential victim advocacy services. The Outreach and Education Coordinator will oversee SAAVIs volunteer programming including training volunteers to present table and run events that promote SAAVIs mission. The Outreach and Education Coordinator will also work closely with the SAAVI Director and SAAVIs confidential Victim Advocates to build education and programming that supports survivors and addresses trends of interpersonal violence impacting Utah State University students staff and faculty.

In addition the Outreach and Education Coordinator will work directly with victims of interpersonal violence as a confidential victim advocate. In their advocacy role the Outreach and Education coordinator will provide direct confidential support to students staff and faculty at USU as they navigate reporting processes and community and campus services.

We will be filling 2 positions at SAAVI. One will have an outreach and educational focus with some direct advocacy work while the other will be focused on direct advocacy work with some outreach and educational activities.

Responsibilities

Program Development Implementation and Evaluation (45%):

  • Develop implement and evaluate individual and community-level programming and outreach designed to raise awareness about SAAVIs confidential victim advocacy service to the USU community.
  • Evaluate data to develop data-driven strategies and utilize evidence-based practices to inform initiatives.
  • Assess the effectiveness of all SAAVI programs through surveys feedback and data analysis.
  • Initiate campus partnerships to integrate anti-violence promotion into broader university initiatives.
  • Create train and oversee an undergraduate volunteer program for student-led training initiatives events and activities.
  • Organize communications to the university community to inform them about SAAVI services and availability.
  • Participate in campus and community coalition meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities and participation.

Direct Advocacy Services (50%):

  • Work directly with survivors of interpersonal violence/crime providing information about victim rights resources processes and services available
  • Provide on-going support through Title IX or legal process including attending hearings meeting with law enforcement agencies and collaborating with other campus and community support services
  • Perform all case management duties including case note documentation assessments emails phone calls and care coordination
  • Work closely with campus and community partners including but not limited to law enforcement officers Residence Life Fraternity and Sorority Life Air Force ROTC USU Athletics community providers and religious leaders to address the needs of survivors at USU.

Other Administrative Duties (5%):

  • Serve in a consultant and expert role in survivor promotion and interpersonal violence prevention to student services units student organizations student leaders colleges USU PD and campus and community stakeholders.
  • Participate in university-wide committees as needed.
  • Participate in weekly case staffing and administrative staff meetings.
  • Engage in staff development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Social Work Higher Education Administration Counseling Communication etc.) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in case management and confidential victim advocacy.
  • EXperience developing implementing and evaluating education and outreach initiatives in a higher education setting.
  • Training in trauma-informed presenting and service provision.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills (Word Outlook Zoom etc.)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal organizational problem solving and decision-making skills as well as a commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.
