Description

  • This is a seasonal 10-month Parks Maintenance Technician 1 position which is a full-time benefited Career Service position. Employment is generally consistent with Parks most active times of the year typically March through December. This position is eligible for Union membership. Reemployment is contingent upon job performance/evaluation continued funding of the program and other acceptable County procedures.
  • The flexibility to work weekends evenings and overtime as needed is required.

You will have an opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team of professionals at Sprinker Recreation Center and develop your technical and customer service skills. The maintenance team supports several operations both outdoors and indoors. Sprinker Recreation Center has recently completed Phase 1 of the outdoor remodel and the addition of hockey locker rooms with plans for additional improvements in the near future. You will be a vital part of the team as we continue these improvements.

We provide recreation programs and infrastructure in active and passive parks and trails. The department consists of three divisions: Parks and Recreation Administration and Resource Stewardship. How to be Successful in the Role:

Bring your knowledge of and the ability to perform a variety of maintenance trades like irrigation landscaping equipment repair athletic field maintenance and more. If you have experience with special event setup thats a plus! Your willingness to learn and perform all the specialized maintenance tasks as well as support in whatever capacity necessary to achieve objectives will guide your success. With your excellent work ethic and positive attitude you will thrive in this environment.

Your Future in this Role:

You will get to be part of an integrated Central Region maintenance team that operates maintains and repairs the infrastructure of the Pierce County Parks system. Your work will be instrumental in providing Pierce County residents with safe and enjoyable parks and facilities. You will be able to fill in at any park and shift within the Central Region. Success in this position also offers a great foundation for future professional growth within the Parks and Recreation department.
