Successful external applicants will be eligible to receive a one-time Signing Bonus of $7000. The position also qualifies for a Relocation Assistance of $5000. (There is a Return of Service Agreement attached to these bonuses).

Position Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Manager for IWK School Mental Health Services the school based clinician is responsible for working as part of the SchoolsPlus team to deliver diagnostic therapeutic and consultation services to children/youth families and staff within a designated Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial (CSAP) family of schools.
The SchoolsPlus Clinician will practice the principles and philosophy of CAPA (Choice and Partnership Approach) in all areas of position responsibility. With a focus on providing early identification and intervention for mental health and addictions issues the clinician will provide individual and group therapies referrals to the Mental Health and Addictions Services a bridge to support reintegration to school following treatment and Mental Health/Addictions education and consultation to school staff. The clinician will integrate prevention and health promotion into clinical practice provide input into programming and participate in evaluation research.
Services will be provided throughout the year including summer vacation and other school holidays based on the identified needs of the client population the school system and the IWK MHA Program.
Hours of Work
37.5 hours weekly Monday-Friday flexibility in working hours required depending on caseload.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Social Work required.
- Registered or eligible to be registered/licensed with Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) required.
- Minimum two (2) years post masters clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health services required.
- Current successful completion of a CPR Level C Health Care Provider or Basic Life Support (BLS) course required within the last 12 months.
- Demonstrated ability to complete mental health assessments using DSM formulations required.
- Demonstrated experience integrating various psychotherapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy solution focused therapy and/or motivational interviewing in both individual and group work required.
- Demonstrated excellence in group facilitation and group treatments required.
- Training in group treatments including Connect Parenting Incredible Years Friends for Life Cool Kids COPE preferred.
- Proficiency in English and French required (oral and written).
- Training in cultural competency preferred.
- Experience working in a school setting an asset.
- Demonstrated high degree of interpersonal effectiveness professional boundaries and judgment empathy commitment to teamwork and strong understanding and application of ethical principles.
- Awareness of local community resources and agencies required.
- Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization including the ability to meet professional and Health Centre documentation standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to family centered care required.
- Valid Nova Scotia Drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle required as travel is a requirement of the position.

Rsum du poste
Le clinicien en sant mentale dans les coles qui relve du gestionnaire clinique des services de sant mentale du IWK Health Centre est responsable de travailler dans le cadre de lquipe colesPlus afin doffrir des services de diagnostic de thrapie de couselling et de consultation aux enfants aux jeunes aux familles et au personnel dans les coles primaires et secondaire de la rgion mtropolitaines du Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP).
Le clinicien en sant mental de lquipe colesPlus met en uvre les principes et la philosophie de lapproche lie au choix et au partenariat (CAPA) dans tous les domaines qui relvent de ce poste. Le clinicien sera principalement responsable de lintervention prcoce dans les questions de sant mentale et de dpendances en offrant des thrapies individuelles ou de groupes des renvois aux services de sant mentale et de prvention des dpendances du soutien la rintgration scolaire aprs le traitement ainsi que des services dducation et de consultation concernant la sant mentale et les dpendances au personnel scolaire. Le clinicien intgrera la promotion de la sant et la prvention dans la pratique clinique et participera la programmation et aux tudes dvaluation.
Les services sont offerts longueur danne y compris pendant lt et tous autres congs scolaires selon les besoins cerns de la clientle le systme scolaire et le programme de sant mentale et de traitement des dpendances du IWK.
Heures de travail
375 heures par semaine du lundi au vendredi selon la charge de travail
Qualits requises
- Une matrise en travail social est requise.
- tre inscrit auprs du Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
- Une exprience de travail postmatrise de duex (2) ans avec des enfants et des jeunes dans un milieu clinique de sant mentale et de traitement des dpendances est ncessaire.
- Dtenir un certificat du cours de RCR de niveau C pour les fournisseurs de soins de sant ou du cours de soins prhospitaliers de base. Le cours doit avoir t suivi dans les 12 derniers mois.
- Une capacit manifeste deffectuer des valuations de la sant mentale laide des formules du DSM est ncessaire.
- Une exprience dans lintgration de diverses approches psychothrapeutiques telles que la thrapie cognitive du comportement la thrapie axe sur la recherche de solutions et la technique dentrevue motivationnelle pour des particuliers ou des groupes est requise.
- Une excellence dmontre en matire danimation de groupe et de traitement de groupe est requise.
- Avoir une grande comptence en anglais et en franais. La personne choisie doit parler couramment le franais et langlais et doit pouvoir lire et crire les deux langues.
- Une formation en matire de traitements de groupe notamment Connect Parenting Incredible Years Friends for Life Cool Kids COPE est un atout.
- Une formation en comptences culturelles est un atout.
- De lexprience de travail dans un environnement scolaire est un atout.
- Niveau lev defficacit interpersonnelle connaissance des limites professionnelles jugement empathie engagement envers le travail dquipe et excellente comprhension et application des principes de dontologie.
- Une connaissance des ressources et des organismes communautaires locaux est requise.
- Une capacit manifeste de gestion efficace du temps et dorganisation est ncessaire y compris la capacit de respecter les normes professionnelles et les normes de documentation du centre hospitalier.
- Un engagement manifeste aux soins axs sur la famille est ncessaire.
