Community and education are two things I value very highly. To work in a role where I can engage with the community and be a part of not only the childrens learning but also the team and families I work with daily and to have a positive impact in these spaces brings me a lot of joy. Zoe Hewett-Batt Centre Director.
SRMCC has an excellent outdoor play space that backs onto the Richmond community oval allowing for regular outings for children within the local community. An ample open outdoor space provides an opportunity for daily indoor-outdoor programs with a significant focus on nature-based pedagogy. We are members of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program and have a hands-on kitchen garden where we grow herbs and vegetables to be used by our resident chef encouraging childrens involvement in menu planning. There is also a community-built home for feathered friends. In addition to this we offer supplementary programs including weekly music classes led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) as well as a weekly Bush Kinder program for our integrated kindergarten group.
SRMCC also offers a parent partnership group to assist and arrange with fundraising events several staff at the centre for over 10 years a director with over 15 years experience in the sector and a teaching qualification and a team culture of lifelong learning and commitment to professional development and quality improvement
