Job Description

General Dentist

We are seeking a General Dentist to provide essential dental care in a community-focused FQHC environment. This role emphasizes preventive care pain management and patient education with the assistance of hygienists and dental assistants. You will have a structured schedule without on-call obligations and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in underserved communities.

Clinical Duties

Administer diagnostic preventive and therapeutic dental treatments such as:
- Pain management and infection treatment
- Temporary restorations/fillings
- Tooth extractions
- Periodontal therapy
- Emergency dental care (limited procedures)
- Root canal therapy for pediatric patients (ages 6 18)
Refer complex cases (e.g. major surgeries implants) to specialists
Educate patients on oral hygiene and disease prevention
Collaborate with hygienists and dental assistants to ensure efficient care delivery

Schedule & Patient Load

Weekly Hours:

Wednesday & Friday: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Thursday: 8:00 AM 6:00 PM (extended hours)

Flexibility: Adjustable start/end times within the 8:00 AM 6:00 PM window

Requirements

Requirements:

Licensure: Active unrestricted Louisiana dental license

Proficiency in general dentistry procedures (extractions fillings emergencies)

Experience in community health or FQHC settings (preferred but not required)
