Job Description

Develop and execute the local external engagement strategy to:

  • Educate community leaders advocates and elected officials about our schools through relationship building school visits and school-based community projects.
  • Deepen the connections between our schools and the communities our schools serve by increasing our presence at community events and meetings.
  • Monitor local policy as it relates to K-12 education and charter schools and make recommendations to the Regional Senior Director regarding regional policy implicationsManage stakeholder database ensuring data entry and data integrity in databasesTrack progress around all outreach efforts analyze progress data and design plans to adjust to real-time data

Develop and implement a parent engagement and advocacy strategy to:

  • Further develop our current core parent advocacy group through consistent programming.
  • Identify and train new parent leaders at each of our schools to engage with elected officials and community leaders mobilize large groups of parents for advocacy events and initiatives and lead school-based community engagement efforts.
  • Drive outreach efforts with families and communities associated with our schools regarding opportunities for advocacy and involvement.
  • Lead and implement non-partisan voter registration and get out the vote campaigns among families in coordination with schools and community partners.

Administrative duties and Board of Trustees support:

  • Prepare the annual board scope and sequence around discussion topics scheduled presentations and key board approvals.
  • Execute action steps for board meeting preparation (e.g. monthly communications information gathering packet creation etc.)
  • Provide logistics support for board meetings (e.g. meeting setup tech support capturing notes etc.)
  • Facilitate the submission and approval process of all board resolutions with internal teams and the Board of Trustees.
  • Oversee monthly tour schedule for donors educators and prospective parents
  • Manage regional website updates social media platforms and school newsletters
  • Provide logistics support for events (e.g. advocacy rallies professional development workshops for district partners etc.)
  • Manage budget processes including team purchasing and invoicing tasks
  • Manage meetings with various stakeholders (e.g. scheduling capturing/dissemination of notes etc.)

Qualifications :

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelors Degree

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of directly related experience
    • Organizing community engagement or other relevant work with schools and families in communities similar to those we serve. 
    • Prior experience in planning and managing large-scale projects. 
    • Prior experience with grassroots field organizing including experience in political issues campaigns or leading a field organizing team
    • Strong strategic analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to create and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency. 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Ability to initiate and build relationships with various stakeholders.
    • Team player who is a self-motivated go-getter with the ability to lead and motivate others. 
    • Comfortable with ambiguity flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and a sense of humor in the face of competing demands. 
    • Self-awareness with the ability to reflect and adapt to diverse environments.
    • Cultural competency and experience working with families from diverse ethnic and class backgrounds.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Outlook Excel PowerPoint) Google Applications and Social Media Platforms (Facebook Twitter Instagram)
    • Flexibility of schedule for early morning evening and weekend meetings and events. 
    • Ability to travel to our schools and community events. 

Schedule & Travel

  • 3 days in-person at the regional office and 2 days remote. 
  • Quarterly travel within our Camden region.
    • Moderate physical activity - stand or walk continuously set up equipment or materials carry moderately heavy objects (20-40 lbs)

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $52000-$61200

Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant professional experience education certifications and tenure with Uncommon Schools. If you meet all job description requirements you will likely receive an offer of $55100
