Job Description

Through the judicial application of technology and the most up to date construction methods and materials we will become leaders in the industry in Ireland and across Europe. Our Lead R&D Engineer with the support of teams across the company will own delivering these commitments for K&M.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative electrical and mechanical solutions leveraging your expertise in engineering / technology in order to support the above objectives.
  • Examine the state of the art in relation to digital twins; smart buildings and any new methodologies that will lead to increasingly lower environmental and cost impact for the full life cost of ownership for our buildings.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical documentation including design specifications test plans and user manuals that will be used as the new standards across K&M.
  • Participate in design reviews ensuring that solutions meet both performance and sustainability requirements.
  • Work closely across all functions within the Group to perform performance testing and validation on prototypes documenting results and refining designs accordingly.
  • Assist with prototype builds to gain hands-on insights into design effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with Finance team on submission of R&D Tax credit claims.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical; Electrical or Building Services Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in research and development preferably in the construction industry.
  • Understanding of construction materials structural systems and sustainability practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
