This Junior Meat Cutter is responsible for contributing to the coordinated efforts of the Central Meat Production Facility. This includes cutting trimming preparing and presentation of high-quality fresh meats (beef pork and poultry) for shipment to all Farm Boy retail locations. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all customers employees and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.
Major Responsibilities:
- Train with senior meat cutter on cutting various types of meat to ensure standards are being met and progress is being made towards becoming a regular meat cutter.
- Ensure full compliance of all company policies and procedures that pertain to the ongoing operation of the Central Meat Production facility.
- Ensure execution of cleaning and sanitation practices that are in strict accordance with both Government regulation and Farm Boy Central Meat Production policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper Health & Safety practices are adhered to in an effort towards optimizing efficiency work safety and food safety.
- Actively participate in helping to create a team-oriented work environment such as providing support and assistance to all fellow team members as required.
- Actively participate in the ongoing effort to improve business practices of the Central Meat Production facility.
- Production of most fresh meat items including but not limited to cutting and trimming.
- Participate in product distribution to Retail outlets to ensure a high standard of product presentation quality and food safety at all times.
- Provide input and/or assistance as requested from Management team for various operational tasks such as inventory-taking and ordering of packaging as well as any other requests that the team member is deemed capable of contributing to.
- Accept short term assignment to any Retail location as determined necessary by any of the following Meat Team Member; Retail Specialist Category Manager Production Manager.
- May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications :
- Typically requires completion of a related post-secondary program plus a up to 1 year of related experience in a meat department or meat production operation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of meat production.
- Technical knowledge of meat production and equipment.
- Superior standards of sanitation cleanliness and food safety.
- Good organizational time management and communication skills.
- Strong team-oriented approach to tasks.
- Detail oriented as it pertains to execution of daily tasks.
- Positive outlook with a history of proven dependability and commitment.
- Willingness to strictly adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including afternoons evenings weekends and holidays.
Work & Sensory Environment:
- Required to wear cumbersome protective clothing or equipment during shift.
- Lack of control over pace due to multiple and/or tight deadlines beyond ones control.
- Ability to work in a cold environment (2 to 4 degrees Celsius).
- May be required to lift carry and/or handle heavy objects.
