Job Description

The Role

Do you want to take a key role in shaping the future of hydrogen in the UK

Hydrogen UK is the largest hydrogen industry trade body operating in the UK and is at the heart of the debate on the role of hydrogen in the energy transition. Hydrogen UK has been instrumental in the development of the strategies and policy frameworks that will enable hydrogen to scale over the next decade.

We are looking to recruit a new Senior Policy Advisor. The role sits within a small dynamic and impactful team and reports to the CEO at Hydrogen UK. The successful applicant will be instrumental in working with our Membership policy makers and other external stakeholders to shape hydrogen policy by providing objective evidence-based policy positions that influence how we think about hydrogen in the UK.


Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the HUK CEO and the Head of Policy to shape and implement Hydrogen UKs ambitious work plan
  • Leading working groups working closely with members to develop policy positions and identifying and overcoming challenges in the industry.
  • Working with members and HUKs team of policy and economic analysts to develop consultation responses reports and thought leadership.
  • Representing HUK and its members at events and conferences delivering presentations and speaking on panels
  • Building strong relationships with key decision makers across the industry local and national government.

Location: London or Birmingham Office (hybrid working)

Salary Range: Competitive plus bonus and excellent benefits package


Qualifications :

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with a range of member stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of hydrogen solutions and technologies and the role of hydrogen in the energy transition.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in line management is desirable.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills and confidence in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders including parliamentarians civil servants and industry leaders.

The role can be based in Birmingham or London. The role usually involves some UK travel with occasional overnight stays.


Upon employment employees should also have a sound awareness of the Companys Information Quality Environmental and Energy Management Systems.
