Two years of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties:
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
May serve on a hazardous materials or crisis intervention response team and routinely investigate serious crimes and accidents.
Protects lives and property with primary emphasis on enforcement of laws investigations of crimes and accidents and providing emergency services and crime prevention programs.
Intervenes in complex matters requiring criminal investigation and collection of evidence arrests and testimony in court.
Works special assignments involving large crowd control operations surveillance activities intelligence gathering activities and matters involving fire safety environmental safety hazardous materials and selective enforcement programs.
May serve as an assistant shift supervisor.
