What You Will Do

We are looking for uniquely talented engineers to champion our key transformation shifts and identify new ways to advance Structural engineering. Pratt & Whitneys Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is growing and we are seeking experienced creative and motivated Structures engineers to analyze and design the next generation of military CAN (Combustor Augmenter & Nozzle) hardware.

The Structures engineer will utilize state-of-the-art analytical methods to validate the structural integrity of Hot Section static hardware (combustors cases frames & exhaust)

• The engineer will be part of an integrated product team with responsibilities for executing FEMs performing lifing analyses and writing technical reports.
• Communicating technical progress and status to various program groups senior management as well as internal / external customers.
• The candidate will also be a member of the broader HSE community and support strategic development and growth of Structures discipline health.
• Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelors degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• 8 years of experience in engineering with a bachelors degree and 5 with an advanced degree
• U.S. Citizen U. S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Structures experience including analytical methods (FEA) hand calculations and spreadsheet methods
• Experience analyzing strength stress deflection vibration fatigue life and damage tolerance
• Excellent analytical problem solving and trending skills.
• Advanced proficiency with ANSYS APDL and / or Workbench.
• Experience working to static Structures standards.
• Advanced knowledge of LCF FM TMF HCF and creep and / or oxidation failure modes.
• Familiarity with P&W Structures tools and procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership in engineering continuous improvement.
• Strong communication interpersonal time management and organizational skills
• A security clearance is beneficial but not required.

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design development technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases combustors turbines (vanes blades rotors and cases) augmenters (military) nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.

Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering Mechanical Design Structural Analysis Durability and Product Definition.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles commuting to and from the assigned site is the employees personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 101000 USD - 203000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
