At Collins Aerospace were modernizing the U.S. Air Force Nuclear Command Control and Communications (NC3) capability as part of a program to recapitalize with the next-generation capabilities.
As our next Senior Principal Systems Engineer we will provide the training and tools to help grow the skills you will need to become a subject matter expert (SME) in the systems engineering lifecycle. You will learn from the best and brightest in the communications and nuclear deterrence domain working at Collins Aerospace. This position is for Richardson TX.

What YOU will do:
You will be responsible for projects spanning the entire development lifecycle including pursuit and order capture trade study system design requirements definition requirements allocation requirement traceability use case development for software/hardware systems integration verification testing and qualification.
You will be responsible for providing technical guidance to multidisciplined teams leading effective working sessions cultivating and reinforcing group values and identifying analyzing and correcting technical problems.
You will serve as the primary technology and systems engineering focal point for leadership and the customer for mission equipment packages/solutions.
You will apply SysML concepts for System Modeling across a full engineering lifecycle.
You will lead system integration and troubleshooting for complex embedded software applications hardware LRUs and system of systems environments.
You will lead engineering teams to understand analyze and develop the models requirements and designs using enterprise standard tools processes and industry best practices.
You will lead technical proposal preparation and serve as a subject matter expert in non-advocate internal and customer reviews.
You will ensure the development and management of technical risks and develop and execute mitigation plans.
You will recommend investments or changes in technology resources procedures equipment systems or other assets to improve the quality of the organizations projects.
You will monitor cost and schedule and reporting project status to program management and engineering leadership.
You will lead the development and communication of roadmaps for projects associated technologies and product lines.
You will establish trusted and influential relationships with customers and suppliers.
You will coordinate across strategic business units for alignment of portfolio roadmaps.
Qualifications YOU must have:
Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Previous professional experience in leading System and product design Requirements management technical risk management interface definition and control integration and test and aircraft level system integration.
Proficiency in the definition of Software-Defined System architectures
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO Rhapsody Enterprise Architect
Ability to travel domestically (up to 20% of time).
Qualifications We Prefer:
Understanding of co-site analysis.
Experience with open system architecture development including systems software and hardware development throughout all phases of a program lifecycle.
Experience in technical proposal writing - Make/Buy Decision-making and trade study experience.
Executing product and system level tests to include experience with automation test tools or scripting.
Experience with regulatory and certification requirements: TSO DO-160 DO254 DO178B/C orARP4754.
Experience with various communication and networking protocols:MIL-STD-1553B ARINC 661 standard and bus protocols and TCP/IP network applications.
Experience working in an Agile development environment being part of a highly integrated team working closely with SW Integration and Verification teams.
Implementation of the Zero Trust security framework
Experience with the Cross-Domain Solution (CDS) information assurance system
