POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Division of Mathematics at Texas Womans University is seeking candidates for a tenure track Assistant Professor OR a Lecturer to teach undergraduate graduate and special topics courses in mathematics and mathematics education and to contribute to the research efforts of the division. An earned doctorate (Ph.D. Ed.D. M.S. or M.A.) in mathematics mathematics education or closely related field is required. Applicants are required to have 18 hours of graduate level mathematics and a teaching certification or at least three years of experience in teaching K-12. The Division of Mathematics in the School of the Sciences contributes significantly to the mission of the University through scholarly endeavors engagement of students and outreach to the community and profession. The Division of Mathematics currently offers an undergraduate degree in mathematics (with or without a teaching certificate). The Division also offers a Master of Science in Mathematics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is essential. Responsibilities will focus on teaching undergraduate and graduate mathematics methods courses as well as courses for the mathematics major and service courses for general education and prospective teachers. Demonstrated experience with the use of technology in instruction and an interest in developing/teaching distance learning courses is highly desirable. Scholarly expectations include research and pursuit of external funding opportunities (especially those related to teacher preparation and STEM education) publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at local regional and national conferences. Service to professional organizations is expected as is service to the University including participation in department college and university committees.
