Contract Type: Permanent & Temporary for 12 months

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Intelligence Analysts to join our team of Analysts we have a permanent role (based in Doncaster) and a temporary role for 12 months (based in Sheffield) available. In this role you will provide expertise using recognised analytical techniques and methodology to assist decision making at a strategic tactical or operational level.

Key responsibilities:

  • Establish and interpret requirements to ensure the needs of key stakeholders are met.
  • Negotiate discuss and agree terms of reference and strategies for intelligence products with clients including SIOs tasking chairs and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally to share data information and analysis.
  • Collect and evaluate data/information from a wide variety of sources (exploiting all appropriate systems and products including relevant databases and analytical software tools) to support the creation of a collection plan (where applicable) and the delivery of analytical techniques and intelligence products.
  • Conduct analysis at a strategic tactical and/or operational level identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to:
  • interpret gaps patterns and trends to provide insight
  • assess and identify current evolving and emerging threat risk and harm o and make recommendations in support of decision-making prioritisation and resource allocation.
  • Develop and test inferences and hypotheses to draw evidence-based conclusions.
  • Deliver intelligence products in support of the relevant unit/district both in accordance with the standard analytical techniques outlined in NIM and the relevant tasking and co-ordinating processes.
  • Produce written and/or verbal briefings and presentations to stakeholders to provide a clear and concise evidence-based understanding of the subject matter including providing advice and guidance on products.
  • Be able to prepare deliver and present analytical products for use in court proceedings and other hearings as required.
  • Communicate complex analytical information and recommendations to districts/departments at all levels both in writing and orally.
  • Adhere to all legal frameworks key working principles professional practice policies and guidance relevant to the role.
  • Maintain awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure local implementation of latest techniques and tactics best practice and information relevant to the role.
  • Commit to the nationally recognised assessment of the skills and abilities of all intelligence roles IPP (Intelligence Professionalisation Programme).
  • Contribute to district/department performance through creating an in-depth understanding of issues and to provide a quality assurance role.
  • Assist in mentoring and peer support to help develop other Intelligence Analysts and researchers and perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
  • To provide a quality assurance role including peer review in relation to analytical products and evidence.

Skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent proven analytical experience.
  • College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) certification or willingness to complete within agreed timescales (<2 years).
  • Skilled in the use of IT packages systems and/or databases involved in analysing interpreting storing and presenting data; demonstrate high level aptitude using Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in intelligence/information collection and analysis.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare and present reports from a range of complex data sources to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate confidently at all levels including an ability to negotiate and influence.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.
